Our Mission

Oncology Partners works on an outsourced basis to help oncology practices and physicians manage their operations more effectively, utilize their resources more efficiently and significantly increase overall reimbursement.

Our History

Oncology Partners was co-founded in 2004 by Dirk Davidson, M.D., and Kevin Combs, a recognized medical billing expert. At the time, Davidson had recently left a large group practice to start his own independent practice, Tennessee Plateau Oncology. At his previous office, an extended support staff provided billing, chemotherapy medication management and other vital behind-the-scenes tasks. In contrast, Davidson had to build his new office from the ground up. For the practice to thrive, he had to streamline his operations to save money and control costs.

In the process, Davidson and Combs learned how to improve their operations by consistently and accurately billing allowable charges in a timely manner. They created a comprehensive billing methodology that combined extensive knowledge of the complex interrelationships between a wide variety of chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusion codes. They also integrated an effective approach to procurement process management. The net effect was an increase in profits of more than 30%.

After seeing how their system increased billings at Davidson’s own practice, the two established Oncology Partners to help other oncology practices increase billings, sustain profitability and enable oncologists to spend more time on their patients – and not on day-to-day operations.

Our Focus

Oncology Partners’ specific oncology focus uniquely qualifies us to provide extensive insight into the challenges oncology practices face every day. This helps us anticipate and plan for changes in the industry affecting our clients.

In the past decade, we have seen insurance reimbursement change as Medicare and private insurers introduced more stringent reimbursement rules. As a result, we believe that oncology practices must maximize their processes to maintain sufficient profit margins.

Our approaches have proven effective at our own practice and have helped improve many others. We give our clients peace of mind and the required support to successfully navigate the reimbursement landscape.
